BCAA boosts Bike Month by offering free roadside assistance to cyclists
(Burnaby, B.C.): Cyclists won’t need to fret over flat tires, broken chains or other mechanical woes during “Bike Month,” this June. The British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) is offering free roadside assistance for cyclists – member or not – who have broken down, and need help getting to work, school or home.During the month of June only, cyclists who’ve experienced a mechanical breakdown can contact BCAA Road Assist and, depending on the availability of a driver, they’ll be picked up and driven a maximum of five kilometres to their destination or a bike repair shop.
“With gas prices so high right now, BCAA knows drivers are looking for cheaper transportation alternatives,” says Ken Cousin, Director of BCAA Road Assist. “Perhaps knowing there’s help available in case of a breakdown, more people will be encouraged to try cycling this month.”
Criteria for BCAA “Bike Assist” in June:
Cyclists needing help during the month of June can call BCAA Road Assist at 604-293-2222 (Lower Mainland), 1-800-222-4357 (rest of B.C.) or *222 by cell phone anywhere in B.C.
BCAA customers can also enter a draw to win a bike when visiting any BCAA sales centre on June 3 for Discover BCAA Day.About BCAA
BCAA is the province’s largest member services association, working on behalf of its 750,000 members to represent their interests and connect them with a team of automotive, travel and insurance professionals dedicated to serving their needs.
