Could you please let me know the temperature the house should be at when they is no one at home. Usually from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thx
Controlling your thermostat is one of the easiest and most economical ways to reduce energy use and ghg emissions. BC Hydro, BC’s electricity utility, recommends 16° C, or 61° F, as the appropriate thermostat setting when you are away from home. Making this switch while at work can result in energy savings up to 10% (if you originally had your thermostat set at 21 degrees). BC Hydro also recommends these settings:Sitting or watching TV - 21° C (70° F)
Working around the house - 20° C (68° F)
Sleeping - 16° C (61° F)
Your heating system will work most effectively if you set your temperature where you want it for longer periods of time (i.e. the 8 hours you are at work or are sleeping).
