Hugfest - February 14th, 2007
Valentine’s Day events are planned for February 14, 2007 as follows:
Vancouver 11:00am – 1:00pm ish
1650 Johnston Street
(The Net Loft, Granville Island, opposite the Public Market)
The forecast for Valentine’s Day in at least three Canadian cities is for unprecedented warmth, thanks to a phenomenon known as a Hugfest.
So what the heck is a Hugfest? Is it anything like a love-in?
Not exactly. There’s less hair involved, caftans are optional, and most importantly, it’s appropriate for all ages. If you plan to spend Valentine’s Day 2007 in Nelson, Toronto or Vancouver, check it out. If you plan to be somewhere else, start your own Hugfest by emailing for the official We Are What We Do Hugfest Kit.
We encourage those in schools, offices, libraries, and hair salons to Hug with wild abandon. Anyone can participate in a Hugfest, and we think everyone should. Here’s the bit that accountants love: pretty much every time you give a free Hug, you get one back.
In its simplest terms, a Hugfest is people giving other people free Hugs. In more complicated terms, it’s still just people giving other people free Hugs.
What else? It’s about celebrating Action 05 – Hug Someone. It’s about making a stranger’s day, putting a smile on someone’s face, and experiencing the joy of random friendliness.
