Please join us to hear from a dynamic panel of sustainable business visionaries who are featured in the book Waking Up the West Coast. These speakers will be discussing the exciting initiatives and sustainable practices that their organizations have successfully implemented.
· Louise Schwarz is the co-owner of The Recycling Alternative. Her company quickly emerged as a local leader in recycling services, committed to providing convenient and economic recycling options to businesses over 17 years ago. Today, the Recycling Alternative remains locally owned and operated and works hard to ensure that businesses are an active part of environmental solutions.
· Marc Stoiber is the founder of Change Advertising. Change specializes in making sustainable brands famous and sustainable companies successful. In their opinion, there’s far too much talk in the sustainability game, and not nearly enough action. Change Advertising hopes to change that by convincing consumers to buy into forward-thinking brands.
· Janet Austin, the CEO of the YWCA will be discussing the new sustainability practices and program initiatives at the YWCA, including the planned environmental program for the YWCA Hotel. Throughout its history, the YWCA has advocated for equality for women – and continues to do so today. Currently, the YWCA is focusing its social action and advocacy efforts on family-friendly workplaces, universal child care and other issues critical to women.
Refreshments will be provided by Happy Planet and Salt Spring Coffee. Thank you to Saul Good Gift Co. for the speaker gift baskets. Entry is by donation and all proceeds will go to the YWCA Vancouver to support their programs and services.
